Home Only in Japan Photonics Haidong Gumdo Lindy Hop

Lindy Hop

My main hobby is swing dancing, specifically the Lindy Hop from the 1920s and 30s. I've been dancing and teaching this for many years, and have recently started a Lindy Hop school called SwingStompers in Chester, UK. Below is an example video of Lindy Hop, and further below it is a collection of my other swing videos from dance camps, events, socials, and lessons.

Performance by Peter Strom and Naomi Uyama

This is a great example of Lindy Hop, as it was all improvised, hence demonstrating the aspects of Lead and Follow.

Lindy Hop in Edinburgh Scotland

Check out Edinbop for a great Wednesday night social, as well as the Edinburgh Swing Dance Society for up to three levels of classes. Zoot Swing occasionally holds events (such as the Bluez Cruise), plus there is the Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society, and monthly dances called Jump Time. There's also an event called Vegas Scotland which the swingers occasionally like to attend!

Swing Dancing in the Counting House:

This is the first video I made with my professional editing software. It highlights a great group of people and an amazing atmosphere of friends socializing through Lindy Hop Swing Dancing in Edinburgh Scotland, at a venue called the Counting House. I filmed this footage in November 2008.

Blues with Lucky Skillen

With Lindy Hop comes other dances such as Blues, which is a much slower dance without any steps, as it places a heavier emphasis on connection. This is a quick video of a Blues workshop with Lucky Skillen, an international instructor from the USA.

Our good friend Dave is leaving us to return home to Australia, so it's time to give him a fun farewell with a swingin' jam circle.

Global Shim Sham

The Global Shim Sham was an event that united all Lindy Hoppers from across the world. It took place in early 2009. The first video is my own, which is followed by the official compilation and several other submissions. You can find the rest by searching on YouTube for Frankie95 or Global Shim Sham.

The Shim Sham in Scotland

This is the video I put together for Frankie95 on behalf of Edinburgh Scotland. When the call was sent for all communities across the world to film their community doing the Shim Sham, I took it upon myself to link all of Edinburgh's different Lindy Hop communities with this one video. Special thanks goes out to all the dancers of Edinburgh.

Frankie95's Global Shim Sham

This is the official compilation of all the different Shim Sham's from all over the world, which was presented for the first time at the Frankie95 Celebration. This version was filmed at the actual event, so it includes the audience's reactions!!!
